DESCRIPTION:
In this course we will explore the creative technique of upcycling applied to denim, along
with various printing and decoration techniques. You will learn to transform garments
denim into unique and attractive pieces, applying your creativity in every step of the process.
We will work with different patterns to create reinvented and personalized garments
from used denim garments.
TO WHOM IS IT ADDRESSED:
This course is designed for both fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals who want to learn about this technique and breathe new life into denim through upcycling. No previous experience in sewing or design is required, as we will adapt the content to your knowledge.
GOALS :
- Learn the basics of upcycling and its application to denim.
- Master various printing, decoration and finishing techniques for denim garments.
- Acquire skills in the transformation and manufacture of denim garments.
- Promote creativity and experimentation in sustainable fashion design.
METHODOLOGY :
The classes will focus on practice and experimentation. We will provide you with the necessary skills to transform denim garments and apply the different techniques. Course taught by Okollective, professionals with many years of experience in denim, upcycling and design who will guide you in the learning process and give you tools to foster creativity in each project, adapting it to your tastes and knowledge.
SYLLABUS :
- Introduction to upcycling and its relevance in sustainable fashion.
- Selection of denim garments to transform and their possibilities.
- Techniques for controlled wear and aging of denim.
- Dyeing and bleaching techniques to create unique effects.
- Application of patches, embroidery and appliqués on denim garments.
- Denim printing techniques: screen printing, textile painting and more.
- Decoration with studs, pearls, sequins and other elements.
- Creation of accessories from denim scraps.

TEACHER :
Edith Canales has training and experience in industrial pattern making and fashion, as well as in tailoring techniques. Over the last 7 years, she has collaborated with various entities in Barcelona. She has participated as a trainer and workshop facilitator, highlighting her activity with multicultural groups. In addition, she has a deep knowledge and experience in various phases of the textile production process, which has allowed her to develop a comprehensive perspective in her professional work .
